The Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA), which historically passed in January 2019, protects New Yorkers who identify as Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming/Non-Binary (TGNCNB); by including gender identity and expression to existing human rights law. This covers the following domains:
- Housing
- Employment
- Education
- Public Accommodations and Healthcare
- Equal Access to Credit
- Freedom From Harassment

The New York Transgender Advocacy Group, launched their Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) - Know Your Rights Project in June 2020. The project will provide education, training, and resources to New York State residents. The main programming will include GENDA Know Your Rights: educational videos, posters, and in-person/online trainings.
